Dental Assistant Salary and Career Outlook

According to the job posting salaries on Indeed.com, the average Dental Assistant salary in Illinois is about $54,710. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the Dental Assistants is projected to grow by 11% through 2028. This is much faster than average, indicating increased job opportunities for graduates of a dental assistant program.

Your Dental Assistant hours will greatly depend on the hours of operation of the office or clinic in which you are working. Some offices will be open “normal” business hours from 9am to 5pm and yet others will see patients in the evenings and maybe even on the weekends, so it is important to be aware of these schedules when looking for a job. Each office will vary and while many dental assistants work full time, there are also many part time opportunities available to help you find a work schedule that is convenient when trying to balance your time spent with family and friends and work.
